When I am feeling overwhelmed and stressed, I find it more challenging to make healthy choices. And of course it is okay to not make healthy choices (sometimes), but I try to avoid making those choices because of stress. After a really great workout this week I was on endorphin overdrive and couldn’t stop thinking about all the things, big, small and silly that make me happy lately. Here are just a few things from my list:
Dani (Pictured Above). Dani is Amanda’s daughter. It was months before Dani would even talk to me. So last weekend when she hopped into my car to spend the day with only me, having no clue where we were going, I was ecstatic. I took the little chickpea shopping for some new school clothes because she is quite the fashionista. Plus, she looks so darn cute in everything. She didn’t have a choice in the matter when I saw a shirt that said “Mom is my BFF.” When she took my hand in the mall I nearly fell over. I fed her pizza and frozen yogurt. Why? Because Miss Shannon is awesome, that’s why… and maybe because I wanted pizza and frozen yogurt too.
Wheel. Of. Fortune! Watching this with a glass of wine and Mr. Fitness by my side. Purrrrrrrre joy. There’s lots of laughs and we get a little competitive. If the contestant on Wheel of Fortune wins the bonus round, I get chills. CHILLS. And it’s not the wine, really. I just generally feel very happy for this random stranger who just won $100,000 because they solved a phrase with only 3 letters. Life-changing. Good for them.
The Jolly Old Man. This old man laps me on the track during my weekend morning jogs. We’re friends. He just doesn’t know it. When he laps me for the third time I just want to pinch his jolly cheeks and thank him for making my jogs all that much better. Quite frankly, I think he has this effect on me because he’s Santa. He doesn’t have a beard, but it is the off season.
Meatballs & Tacos. I could eat meatballs and tacos every day and well, I have. This week’s lunch has been sooo good, I don’t even want to buy lunch out. I might have to eat meatballs and tacos next week too. Spoiler alert for next week’s lunchbox post. Sometimes you just want to eat meatballs and tacos all the time. It happens.
